i am trying to use use voice recognition software and i cannot get the
microsoft speech recognition software to work.

i have windows XP with all the latest updates etc..

I have installed the sapi 5.1 software 2 times but cannot find any speech
recognition options from within control panel etc..

Also when i load up the third party software that needs the voice
recognition services i also get the follwoing error:
'sapi ver 5.1 not found’

When i go into the speech properties within control panel all i see is the
'text to speech' tab and nothing else.

Have you any hints or tips? Or a checklist of things I need installed? Any
links to get any software I may need etc...

Hi Ben,

In order to use Speech Recognition in Windows XP, you need to install a
compatible engine. You can get the Microsoft Speech Recognition engines from
Office XP or Speech SDK 5.1.

More information regarding How to use Speech Recognition in Windows XP can
be found in this site.
