Can no longer create new Speech Macro

I created a couple of macros a few days ago but am not able to create any
more. I choose the "Insert Text" option, type in the phrase I want to say, eg
"Literal first", then the text which is supposed to be inserted, eg "1st",
check the summary which shows everything as I expect with the macro being
saved in the "C:\Users\Viv\Documents\Speech Macros\" folder, the 'Digitally
Sign ...' checkbox is ticked and then I click the Create button.

I then get a message "Can't sign new Speech macro", "An error was
encountered attempting to sign the new Speech Macro. Please check the macro
contents and your digital certificate."

As the macro I have created looks correct I presume that there is a problem
with the digital signature, but I have no idea what to do about that.

I have tried to create several different macros, some all text, but none of
them can be created.

You need to check the security setting level. Right click the Windows Speech
Recognition Macros icon in the lower right taskbar of your screen. Choose
Security, next choose Set Security Level, then choose Low. Do not worry about
choosing low security as it does not really apply for creating macros.

If you're creating a lot of macros, you may benefit from the WSRToolkit.
This $15.99 add on to WSR includes seven functions you would expect see in a
mature speech recognition software. Read about these at:

Thanks for the suggestion Marty, but that did not work.

As I was able to create 2 macros a few days ago but cannot create any now
then something must have changed, and as far as I can remember apart from
re-installing my printer because the driver did not function correctly the
only other thing to have happened is that some updates were applied. (But on
checking the only new updates happened yesterday, after I first encountered
my problem.)

I will have a look at your toolkit, thanks for the suggestion.

Marty,

That does work but seems to give me the choice of either :-

1) Turn off UAC and have the ability to create digitally signed speech
macros; or

2) Keep UAC turned on and create speech macros which are not signed; or

3)Turn off UAC, reboot, create a signed macro, turn UAC back on and then
reboot.

None of them seem ideal, but the second is the best. I would love to know
why there is a conflict between UAC and the digital signature I have created.

For some reason I seem to have problems with my browsers occasionally. I
clicked on the link you supplied in an earlier post but Firefox was unable to
connect to your website, even when I pasted the link into a new window, and
IE8 had the same problem, but using Google I was able to click on a link on
its results page and open your site that way.

I guess that I have a problem with my computer somewhere, but I have no idea
where.

Try turning off UAC (User Account Control) in Control Panel, User Accounts.
Then set the security level for Speech Macros to High. Next, reboot the
computer and try setting the Speech Macros security level to Low.

We find UAC a hindrance not only for Speech Macros but for general file and
computer tasking (file sharing/access etc.). We choose 1.

No, that was my fault. I added an "s" to http. Try this:
